Conditions in which we specialize
Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, autoimmune diseases, chronic illness
Ninety percent of all cases of hypothyroidism in the United States are caused by Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks and destroys the thyroid gland. Although thyroid hormone medication may be necessary, it does not manage the autoimmune disease destroying the thyroid gland.
A more appropriate approach is to manage the dysregulated immune system, a multi-faceted approach that includes diet, gut health, hormone balancing, immune health, and sometimes attention to neurological factors. For more information about this approach, read the book Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? by Datis Kharrazian, DHSc, DC, MNeuroSci, a pioneer in functional medicine and neurology.
We use the same approaches for other autoimmune diseases and chronic illnesses that we use for Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism.
ADD, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder
Do you have a child who suffers from ADD, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, a sensory processing disorder or other brain development disorder? Newer research shows these conditions frequently stem from an autoimmune or inflammatory condition in the brain. Many times these children can avoid the use of prescription medication when we address the underlying immune imbalance using functional medicine approaches. These brain disorders can also stem from an imbalance in brain development, something a Brain Balance Center can address.
Brain Health: Tourette’s, OCD, depression, anxiety disorders, memory loss, brain fog
Research increasingly shows Tourette’s syndrome, OCD, depression, anxiety disorders, other mood disorders, and memory loss can stem from an underlying immune imbalance. The brain is highly susceptible to immune imbalances, inflammation, and autoimmune attacks, which can manifest differently in different people. For one person it might be depression, for another it’s memory loss. All increase the risk of more serious brain conditions, such as Alzheimer’s, later in life. Although medication may sometimes be necessary, it may fail to resolve the underlying condition so that an imbalanced health condition progresses.
Gardasil vaccine damage
Functional medicine has proven effective to reverse damage caused by vaccines, such as the Gardasil vaccine, in many cases. For more information, visit my Gardasil vaccine-damage page.
