I have had a chronic cough for over 20 years. Thinking it was a food allergy but doing nothing about it in the beginning because it didn’t make me sick. It didn’t alter my life and it wasn’t very bad. It was only a small cough in the beginning occurring every once in a while.
As the years went by my cough increased with other symptoms. I had a hard time getting through my day without coffee and the cough would start waking me up at night. Nine and a half years ago I quit working thinking taking it easy would help. I seemed to be getting worse as the years went by. I starting feeling fatigued, grouchy and irritable. I thought I had asthma from my cough but all medications made it worse. One doctor even wanted to put me on antidepressant drugs. I refused all pharmaceuticals and was trying to take care of it naturally.
Two natural doctors I saw said I had adrenal fatigue yet didn’t give me a real course of action. Exercise made me feel worse and it was getting harder to get up in the morning and stay energetic enough just to make dinner at the end of the day.
I started reading a book about adrenal fatigue that explained it a bit and introduced a diet plan. On this plan I gained 30 pounds so I thought something must be wrong with my thyroid. That is when I got Dr. Kharrizian’s thyroid book “Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms, When My Lab Tests Are Normal” and learned about the food elimination diet. I found out through this that I had a sensitivity to many foods I was eating regularly. With this info I new I needed professional help in this area.
I found Dr. Mark Flannery through the thyroid book’s author, Dr. Kharrizian’s, office, yet it still took me a while to make an appointment. Not only did I want to take care of it myself, I was in a bit of denial.
I finally made an appointment with Dr. Flannery. He put me on a gross diet, exposing me to many different foods that made me sick, to find out what was making me sick. What a blessing. As soon as the results were in and the truth was told I could avoid the sickening foods.
I am now on a strict diet of meat, fruit and vegetables. No grains. Almost everything I eat is fresh. What a difference this has made in my life. I can now care for my children and even home school with diligence and organization. I can clean my house and not get exhausted and I can stay up past 9:00 at night without feeling tired. I am more easy going and am much more compassionate toward others. This has helped my marriage. My poor patient husband put up with me for those sick years and I am so happy God gave me such a kind, unselfish man.
Thanks to Dr. Flannery for stepping out from the ordinary and making a difference in my life and the life of others. Thanks to God for changing my life and giving me a new start.
