Health can make a difference!
Dr. Vera Flannery practices chiropractic care in Simi Valley by appointment only.
My interest in chiropractic began after a high school injury that left me on crutches. I was introduced to a wonderful chiropractor who literally got me “back on my feet.” This was the first time a doctor educated me on how to take better care of myself, not only physically, but nutritionally. This eye-opening experience about true health lead me to pursue further education.
Along with a passion to help and heal, I have a soft spot for those who are left out of the wellness spectrum of chiropractic: pregnant women and children, and I focus my practice on helping women prepare for birth and supporting a child’s development and growth.
When I work with my patients, I want their experience to be beneficial and enjoyable so I use gentle chiropractic and soft tissue manipulation. Pregnancy can be enjoyable when you body is in balance. My aim with pregnant patients is to balance the muscles and ligaments of the pelvis to provide stability to the growing fetus. Sacral misalignments causes the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. It is these tense muscles and ligaments and their constraining effect on the uterus which prevents the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth.
The Webster Technique is defined as “a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nerve system and facilitates biomechanical balance in pelvic structures, muscles and ligaments.” (In other words, when the pelvis is balanced, your baby will be healthier and happier.) This has been shown to reduce the effects of intrauterine constraint, allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth. Please watch the video below to gain a better understanding why a balanced pelvis is so important for child birth.

With my pediatric patients, I focus on the prevention and improvement of childhood illnesses such as asthma, eczema, ear infections, ADHD, irregular sleeping patterns, colic, digestive disorders, cradle cap, diaper rash, tantrums, headaches, repeated infections, whooping cough, and obesity through proper nutrition and chiropractic care.
I am an active member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, Practice-Based Research Network, American Pregnancy Association and certified in Webster technique which is designed for pregnancy. I am also certified in Applied Kinesiology, Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization and Nutritional Therapy.
